Danish PM drops plan for new climate texts

Danish Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen said negotiators at the 193-nation meeting would consider existing U.N. texts presented to the meeting on Wednesday that outline possible elements of a deal to combat global warming.

首相は「ほかの草案は用いられない」と言明。COP15参加国は16日に提出された既存の国連による草案について検討を行うと述べた。デンマーク案に対しては先進国寄りとして発展途上国から反対の声が挙がっていた。

"No other texts will be used," Rasmussen said. "The conference is now at a critical juncture and we have now agreed how to proceed," he added. Developing nations had objected to the possibility of new texts from Denmark, saying that it favored developed nations.

イボ・デブア国連気候変動枠組み条約事務局長は、16日に中断していた合意に向けたプロセスが再び動き始めたと述べた。

The United Nations climate change head, Yvo de Boer, said the process toward a climate change deal was moving again after grinding to a halt on Wednesday.
