国連気候変動枠組み条約（UNFCCC）のイボ・デブア事務局長は8日、12月のUNFCCC第15回締結国会議（COP15）で締結を目指す温暖化ガス排出量削減に向けた新たな条約への見通しが明るくなったと述べた。ただ交渉のペースを速める必要があるとした。

Prospects for a new U.N. climate pact in Copenhagen have brightened but negotiations must speed up to meet a December deadline, the head of the U.N. Climate Change Secretariat Yvo de Boer said on Tuesday.

同事務局長はマニラからロイターの電話インタビューに応え、20カ国・地域（G20）の気候変動対策への財政支援は失望的だったとしながらも、日本、中国、インドなどが最近温暖化ガス排出量削減努力を表明したことは、国連の削減努力に弾みをつけたと述べた。

De Boer told Reuters in a telephone interview from Manila, moves by countries including Japan, China and India to curb greenhouse gases had helped the talks in recent weeks despite disappointing progress on financing the fight against climate change by the Group of 20.

その上で「見通しは明るい」とし「正しい方向に向けて進んでいる。方向性については何も問題はないが、（交渉の）ペースについては改善の余地がある」と述べた。

"The outlook is brightening," de Boer said. "We are moving in the right direction -- nothing wrong with the direction, something left to be desired in terms of the pace."
