日産自動車は2日、来年後半に発売する電気自動車の外観と名称を公表した。大きさは排気量1800ccのガソリン車と同程度。5人乗りのハッチバックで、薄型のリチウムイオン電池を床下に配置することで広めの室内空間を確保した。

Nissan unveils the electric car "Leaf", to launch next year

Nissan Motor announced the name and appearance of the electric vehicle to launch in the second half of next year. The size is about the same as gasoline vehicle exhaust 1800cc. Five-passenger hatchback, by placing thin lithium-ion batteries under the floor to spread interior space.

車名は環境対応車であることを分かりやすく表現するため、「リーフ（葉）」とした。一回の充電で160キロ走行できるという。
カルロス・ゴーンCEO（最高経営責任者）は8月中旬に移転する神奈川県横浜市の新社屋であいさつし、「今日は日産にとって節目。新本社と『リーフ』は将来にのぞむ日産の強い決意だ」と語った。横須賀市を選挙区とする小泉純一郎元首相もかけつけ、「脱石油社会に向けて普及するだろう」とあいさつした。

Name of the car is to express clearly that it is environmentally-friendly vehicle, "Leaf." On a single charge, runs 160 km.
Carlos Ghosn, CEO (Chief Executive Officer) is a greeting in the new building in Yokohama City, to move in mid-August, said "Today is a turning point for Nissan. ゴーンCEOは、2020年には世界の自動車需要の1割が電気自動車に置き換わると予測。当面は供給が需要に追いつかず、生産能力の増強が課題になると指摘した。その一方、足元ではモーターと内燃機関を組み合わせたハイブリッド車の人気が高まっていることから、「電気自動車以外の開発を止めたわけではなない」と語り、需要に合わせてハイブリッド車も投入していく方針も明らかにした。

CEO Ghosn expected 10% of world automotive demand will be replaced with electric vehicles, in 2020. The supply is not enough for the demand in near future, he said the issue of capacity enhancement. Meanwhile, from the increasing popularity of hybrid vehicles with motors and internal combustion engines now, "have not stopped the development of non-electric vehicles," he said, to introduce hybrid vehicles according to the demand as a policy.

電気自動車の普及には価格の高さが課題だが、日産は電池だけをリースにする販売方式を検討している。車両本体の価格は同クラスのガソリン車と同じにし、電池のリース料と充電費用を合わせたコストをガソリン代以下に抑える。

The issue to spread of electric vehicles is the high price, Nissan is considering a scheme to lease the batteries. Set the unit price as same as gasoline vehicles in its class, lower the cost of leasing and charging than gasoline.
