Algae fuel is a biofuel from algae. Among algal fuels' attractive characteristics: they do not affect fresh water resources, can be produced using ocean and wastewater, and are biodegradable and relatively harmless to the environment if spilled. Algae cost more per pound yet can yield over 30 times more energy per acre than other, second-generation biofuel crops.

藻類燃料は、藻類から生成されるバイオ燃料。海水や雑排水の利用で新鮮な水資源に影響することなく生産でき、廃棄物も生分解性であるため、低い環境負担で生産できる。藻類そのものは、他の第2世代バイオ燃料作物に比較して単位量あたりのコストは増すものの、作付け面積に対しては30倍以上のエネルギーを得ることができるとされる。
