米国の野生動物保護協会（WCS）は7日、ブラジルのアマゾン熱帯雨林の奥地で新しいサル（亜種）を発見したと発表した。
　
New small monkey discovered in Amazon rain forest
　
Researchers have discovered a new sub-species of monkey in a remote part of the Amazon rain forest, a U.S.-based wildlife conservation group (WCS) said on 7th.

今回発見されたサルは、科学者が2007年に同国アマゾナス州で初めて見付け、背中に独特の模様があることから小型のサルであるタマリンと関連があるとみられていた。
発見されたサルは、体の色がほぼ灰色と茶色で体重213グラム、体長24センチで32センチの尾を持っている。

The newly found monkey was first spotted by scientists in 2007 in the Brazilian state of Amazonas and is related to the saddleback tamarin monkeys, known for their distinctively marked backs.
The monkey is mostly gray and brown, weighs 213 grams and 24 centimeters tall with a 32 centimeter tail.
