米マサチューセッツ工科大学（MIT）の科学者らは19日、地球温暖化による気温上昇が、6年前の予想に比べ2倍となる可能性があるとの研究結果を発表した。Global warming could be twice as fast as forecast six years ago = research
Global warming's effects could be twice as extreme as estimated just six years ago, the scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology(MIT) reported on 19th.
同研究では、2100年までに地球の平均表面温度は5.2度上昇する可能性があると指摘。2003年の予想では上昇温度は2.4度だった。
今回の研究結果は、米気象学会（AMS）の専門誌『Journal of Climate（気候学ジャーナル）』で発表され、前回予想との相違は、経済モデルの改善と最新の経済データを反映したためだとしている。
In the study, earth's median surface temperature could rise 5.2 degrees by 2100. A median temperature of a 2003 study projected increase of 2.4 degrees.
The new study, published in the American Meteorological Society (AMS)'s Journal of Climate, said the difference in projection was due to improved economic modeling and newer economic data than in previous scenarios.
