英政府は、電気自動車やハイブリッド車を購入する人を対象に、最高5000ポンド（約75万円）の助成を行う計画を検討している。同計画ではまた、電気自動車などの充電スタンドといったインフラ整備のために2000万ポンドを見込んでいる。
UK to subsidize the purchase of hybrid and electric car
British government will soon offer up to 5,000 pounds (about 750,000 yen) to people who buy electric or hybrid cars under a new government plan.
The plan also sets aside 20 million pounds for the development of infrastructure such as charging points for electric vehicles.
助成プログラムは、電気自動車の次世代モデルの導入が予想される2011年からスタートする予定。
電気自動車の価格は平均1万2000ポンド前後だが、上位モデルになると1台8万ポンド以上になる。
The grant program will be offered from 2011 when a new generation of electric cars is expected to become available.
