World's most ethical 99 companies, 5 companies such as Toyota in Japan
The U.S. Ethisphere Institute, an international think-tank dedicated to the advancement of best practices in business ethics and corporate social responsibility (CRS), named 99 companies in its third annual listing are the world's most ethical on 13th.
U.S. Honeywell International, and U.S. Nike, Germany BMW, U.S. Johnson Controls, the UK's HSBC Holdings and others include 5 Japanese companies such as Toyota Motor, Ricoh, Kao, Sompo Japan Insurance Inc., Nippon Yusen are selected in the list.
"The mission of our group is to improve corporate behavior," said Alex Brigham, executive director of the Ethisphere Institute, an international think-tank based in New York.The rankings (www.ethisphere.org/wme2009) are based on their peers within their industry, as each industry operates under different circumstances of 35 different industries.
一方、3年連続で選ばれた企業は44社あり、ゼネラル・エレクトリック(GE)やアメリカン・エキスプレス(アメックス)、ペプシコ、マクドナルド、スターバックスなどの米国勢のほか、スウェーデンの家具大手イケアなどが入っている。
This year's group features 25 first-time recipients including U.S. Dell (Computer Hardware), Thomson Reuters (Media, Publishing & Entertainment), U.S. Best Buy (Specialty Retail).
Of the companies on the list, 44 are on it for the third time. Most of them are American companies includes General Electric (GE), American Express (AMEX), PepsiCo, McDonald's, Starbucks Corp and some, such as Swedish company IKEA Furniture Giant, are also listed.
